Abstract:

In the arid and semi arid areas, the misuse of water resources, the inadequate irrigation techniques (gravitational submersion) and the lack of an adequate and efficient drainage system , have had, ecologically and economically, a very negative impact. Large areas with high agricultural potential including the palm plantation of Ouargla, are now threatened by the flooding of chott areas and rising groundwater. In this context, and in order to slow the rise of the groundwater that touches the ground in some places and that increasingly threatens date palms in the Ouargla region, we have set as a main objective the desalination of drainage water and its re-use in irrigation and/or groundwater supply, after improving the existing drainage system.
